ABOUTI am one man – I am not a company.  I am a husband, a father and an artist.  My wife and three little kids are a source of inspiration and happiness.  I’m also inspired by the beautiful world just outside my door.  I live in the Pacific Northwest and find inspiration in the trees, the rivers and the fields.
I create – I do not produce.  I create because I love to.  It’s so much fun and a pleasure to go to work.  My pieces are handmade, in the truest sense of the word.  I make one piece at a time and give it my full attention, starting with a tree and ending up with functional art.  I love the idea of taking a discarded tree and giving in new life.  I think the natural world is beautiful, and I love what I do.
Once upon a time I received a degree in theology, before I traded in my textbooks for a handplane.  I studied furniture design & fine woodworking in such diverse locales as California’s redwood coast and an island village in Sweden, where I trained under two important furniture masters.  My work has won praise from Martha Stewart, been featured in national magazines and won design awards.  I have exhibited at various juried shows, including the prestigious Smithsonian Craft Show.  My work is commissioned, collected and enjoyed by customers around the country.
I would love to hear from you and am happy to chat if you want to learn more about ordering a handmade piece of functional art.
Sincerely,
Greg Klassen

I am one woman. I am not a company. I create and do not mass produce. Every painting is unique and made with great love and care. I am a wife, a mother of two teenagers and an artist. I create because I have to use this wonderful gift of creating which I was given at birth. Because it gives me joy. Because there is nothing and then something is born! Something that makes the world more beautiful and meaningful.
I am one soul. I want my paintings to bring joy and thoughts about the real meaning of life.
Some paintings are signed on the front some are not and are signed at the back. It depends on each piece. There is a lot more oil than acrylic these days.

My current body of work is focused on trees although there is sometimes the odd one out.

This piece called the broken shell is at the same time a tribute to the work of Georgia O'Kiefe after seing her exhibition at the Tate modern mixed with summer and me fighting against cancer at the time.
I find in nature an endless source of contemplation and reflexion.

My trees are from everywhere. Mostly the Alps where I live, England and Scotland where I travel regularly, and Provence, my family home.

I take thousands of photos and then paint in the peace of my studio, aways from crawling disturbing elements! Although that is sometimes fun.

Once upon a time I received a degree in Law. But my heart had been set on art since always.
